TIME FOR PRINT SHOOTS
How do they work?
Basic concept is the opportunity for the model and photographer to work on new ideas that they are unable to shoot in their paid work. Each have ideas about what should be in their portfolios and Time for Print shoots help them do this at minimal expense. Here is a very basic idea of what each should provide certainly subject to negotiation and discussion.
Photographers should provide: Cameras, lighting, in some cases a studio and prints for all parties with appropriate release for use of the photos taken to promote their respective careers. Money from any sale of the photos taken should be split per agreement before the shoot. The model, makeup artist and stylist should receive at least 2- 8 X 10's of their choice. In a digital world, perhaps a CD of the shoot might be an option.
Models should provide: A basic wardrobe; a basic black dress, swimsuit, jeans, office attire, etc. Makeup and the skill to apply it on shoots without a makeup artist.
Makeup Artists: Be prepared to provide 2 "looks" and maybe more depending on the shoot. I can't over-emphasize the value of the makeup artist on a shoot. The photos are just better with them there.
Stylist should provide: extraordinary wardrobe items. Lots of ideas. The stylist could coordinate the shoot to see that nothing is missed and everyone arrives on time.
As you can see, a Time For Print shoot can be as informal as a phone call between a model and photographer or can involve many people with extensive wardrobe and props. What is important is that all should share the costs and the rewards.
